Summer At The Old Boathouse – Hannah Ellis

Hello lovelies, how are we all?

Todays post is my first ever book review, I started reading this book on January 1st and finished it on January 6th. I was so hooked on this book that I just couldn’t put it down. Whilst looking into this book more I found out that it was the third book into a series, I had no idea! I ended up reading the book anyway and I am so glad I did. I read this book on my Kindle, the story is available on kindle unlimited.

summerA summary of the book:

Of all the guys, she falls for the one who’s off limits…

Emily Winters would do anything for her best friend Josie. Every week they meet for a catch up at the Old Boathouse – an idyllic little café but the Thames were Josie’s boyfriend Jack works.

As the summer draws on, life seems perfect. Emily’s writing career is taking off and she’s throwing herself into the dating scene. There’s just one problem: she compares all the men she meets to Jack.

And none of them measure up.

Now all she needs to do is figure out how to fall out of love with her best friend’s boyfriend. Because even when Josie moves the countryside, and her relationship with Jack crumbles, Emily knows there are rules to friendship that you should never break.

But can they be bent in the name of love? Is there a way Emily can get the man of her dreams without ruining her friendship with Josie? One thing’s for certain: when you’re in love with your best friend’s guy, the course of true love will be anything but smooth…

My opinion:

This book left me feeling all types of emotions. I could really feel for all the characters in this book. This book had me feeling eager to see what happens next… would Emily finally get her chances with Jack? Would her and Josie stay friends if she did get with Jack?

I loved this author because she has the ability to make her characters so relatable. I felt as though I knew them all and could relate to what they were saying and feeling. I felt as though I had a connection with the main character, Emily Winters, how she was as a person pretty much summed me up. A girl who loves staying in, writing books, hates loud scenes and isn’t much of a social person.

I was finding myself agreeing with the characters of the book and getting as annoyed as the characters would at the same time. This book had such an amazing way of making you feel as though you are completely part of it.

I am so excited to read the next books in this series – especially as I enjoyed this one so much.

Have you read this book yet, or any in the Hope Cove series, if so what did you think?
